American Black Walnut
Chocolate heart, blonde sap. Ages golden with sunlight. Our most-requested species for modern and transitional kitchens.

Rift-Cut White Oak
Cathedral grain, tight rays. The defining wood of Shaker and contemporary cabinetry. Takes both clear and dark stains beautifully.

American Cherry
Pink-rose when new; deep red after a year of patina. Warm, romantic, and traditional. Wonderful for studies and feature cabinetry.

Hard Rock Maple
Tight, even grain. The best clear-coated workhorse and a fine substrate for painted finishes.

Knotty Alder
Rustic character with full knot variation. We hand-distress for an aged appearance — ideal for craftsman and lodge styles.

Yellow Poplar
The best substrate for a painted finish in this part of the country. Stable, paintable, dimensionally honest.
Finish disciplines

Four ways we
put a finish on.

Every finish is applied by hand, in our own spray booth, by a finisher who has been at this longer than your appliances have been on the market.
Hand-rubbed oil
Walnut, oak, cherry. A penetrating oil-wax that brings out the wood's character and can be repaired in place. Our preferred finish for the wood species we feature.
Catalyzed lacquer
Painted cabinetry. A two-part cured finish that is dust-tight, kitchen-grade, and resistant to the daily abuse a working kitchen delivers.
Glaze & wipe
For traditional and period-correct work. A pigmented glaze worked into the corners and details for an aged, hand-touched appearance.
Open-grain stain
Oak finished without the pores filled — the cathedral grain stays honest, the depth stays real. Modern and Shaker.
